Getting back to business.....

Well here I am after so many months of being incognito. What have I been up to? Well, let's see. I've decided to go back to school and make an attempt at a bachelor's degree. With this economy the way it is and with the job situation not getting any better, I decided I better take my future out of "their" hands and put it in my own. There are opportunities out there, I just need some more education and know-how and I'll be alright.

I'm still a non-smoker! Yeah!

We were down at my mom's house in Cordova. She saw me grab my tube (I keep my e-cig in a pink cigar tube) and pull out my e-cig. She said to me "you still smoking them fake things?" I looked at her and laughed. She's so silly, I said "no ma, this isn't fake it's electric and yes I still use it. I haven't had a cigarette in almost 6 months!" Then my son says "yeah! I'm so glad too. I don't want to be an orphan!"

OMG!!

My husband and I both have done extremely well with giving up cigarettes with our electronic cigarettes. I truly believe it wouldn't have happened without them. We've tried so many different times to quit and was never successful. This time, I still don't have the urge to smoke. The smell is such a turn off! I love smelling my hair. It smells like jasmine. Ummm.

Part of my getting back to business is keeping up with my blog. I find it therapeutic to write and I'll be doing this a lot more now!

Still a non-smoker!!

Hey! How ya been? I've been so busy lately!! My husband had shoulder surgery, our daughter has been going to Drama Club, practicing for her first production, and our son is getting interested in football! Whew! I've hardly had a chance to sit down a breathe!

So here I go....

Inhale.....Exhale......Ahhhhh

Now it's been a little more than a month and I'm still not smoking analogs! I'm still using my e-cig, which I love by the way. The day hubby had surgery, I waited for him in the designated family waiting room. It turned out to be a 6 and a half hour surgery and during that time I vaped and had several people asking me questions about it. Some people even said "oh look she has one of those things!"

People watching is one of my favorite past times and having my e-cig is a great conversation starter. I'm trying to turn it into a way for me to make some money, but my main goal is to spread the word to every smoker that there's a healthier alternative to tobacco cigarettes. I want them all to know that they can still have all the pleasures of traditional smoking while inhaling a harmless water vapor. I want them to know the freedom of smoking at their desk or even in the doctor's office. I want them to have the chance to experience life as a non-smoker, but still be able to receive the nicotine they crave without putting others in harms way with second hand smoke. Electronic cigarettes don't use tobacco or flame so there's no ash, no smoke, and no smell. Along with that, the only ingredients in e-cigs are propylene glycol (the stuff that creates the vapor), nicotine, and their flavor choice. They can even choose the strength of nicotine that they want. They can taper themselves down off the nicotine eventually to zero and still retain the pleasure of smoking by vaping instead.

Since learning about Blu e-cigs, I've learned about so many others. There is a price range and options vary among the brands, but they are all great because they operate on the same basic premise: atomizer, battery, cartridge (ABCs). No carcinogens, no pollutants, no chemicals that will kill you and everyone around you. Just water vapor that disappears in seconds. So if it sounds like I'm pushing electronic cigarettes you'd be right. I'd like to make a little money for all my effort because I firmly believe they saved my life and my husband's life and I want every smoker to feel the freedom we feel with our e-cigs.

It's a great life! So go ahead and click on one these cool banners and learn a little something about electronic cigarettes. See what each company has to offer. Each one is based in the USA and all come with a 30 day money back guarantee and at least a one year warranty. If you see something you like, buy it!

Luv ya!

Almost too much fun to mention

Oh I've had so much fun with my e-cig it's almost too much to talk about!

I take it everywhere I go and so does my husband. We love to watch people's reactions when they see one of us smoking. Like right now, hubby's getting ready to have shoulder surgery and he's enjoying his e-cig while the nurse preps him. He asked another nurse just about 20 minutes ago, what the rule was on electronic cigarettes. She looked at him and said "what's that?" I pulled mine out, took a puff and said "this. It's totally smokeless." And she says "well what am I seeing?" I answered "water vapor. Pure water vapor." And her jaw dropped. Then she asked "well why do that instead of regular cigarettes?" and I told her "because I still get my nicotine, but no one else gets 2nd hand smoke and I don't get the harmful stuff that's in regular cigarettes."

She was thoroughly impressed. Then I told her about blu eCigs. I'll get her email information from her before we leave so I can send her information. I can't believe how excited I get just thinking about spreading the word about these e-cigs.

I saw a report on the news this morning about e-cigs and how the state of Illinois wants to ban them! What? They say they are unsure of how safe it is.....but they won't ban regular cigarettes, known to cause cancer other bad things.

About an hour later......

I left the hospital in search of an open Starbucks. No luck. Well, I did find one, but it wasn't doing the tax day free cup of coffee so I went to the one at the mall. It wasn't open yet and it wasn't gonna open for another half hour, so I just came back. But anyway.....

On my way out, a guy hops on the elevator with me and makes small talk. He tells me he's been here with a friend since last night and he was going crazy because he wanted a cigarette, but he didn't want to leave her. Then I pull out my e-cig and tell him that I'm a smoker too but I can smoke whenever and wherever I want to. I showed it to him and he was like "cool! where do I get one?" I told him where I got the one I had but then I told him about blu eCigs. Oh I wish I had some business cards or post cards with my website on them! I know I could reach so many smokers!

At this point, it's not even about the sales. Even though it would be nice to make a nice commission from blu my main focus is letting every smoker I can know about e-cigs and the benefits of smoking those versus regular tobacco cigarettes.

Let me tell you about the benefits I've experienced 2 weeks into it. I feel AMAZING!! My sex drive is wayyyyyyyy up! It's just a damn shame that now my husband has to have shoulder surgery today. Oh well, it'll be that much nicer when he's ready. Oh yeah! I got my roll on before we went to sleep and all day yesterday ;-) I have found that my energy increases daily, and I haven't gained any weight. In fact, I've lost 3 more pounds!

Next on my agenda is getting business and post cards made so I can pass out to every smoker I see. I think this has become my life's mission.

Crazy huh?

I smoked at the doctor's office today!

Oh yes I did! Michael and I both did. And can you guess what he said? He says "hey! what are those? did you quit smoking?" He started explaining how he's interested in e-cigs for his dad. We told him about how we've been tobacco free for a little while now and how much energy we have, how much better we sleep, how much better we wake up, and how much better food tastes! Oh boy! Those 35 pounds I've worked so hard to get off, I'm gonna have to work harder to keep off now! Oh well, it'll be 100 degrees on a regular in a minute. The extra pounds will melt off if nothing else!

So anyway, we had such a stressful day!

Very very important plans fell through the cracks today and miscommunication caused a week long delay. All throughout the ordeal, whenever I felt particularly stressed, I'd pull my e-cig out of my pocket and puff away until I felt better. Those would have been times when I would have had to excuse myself to go outside to have a cigarette, or stress even more until I could. With my e-cig, I was able to pacify my craving and deal with the situation at hand. My e-cig made this extremely stressful day mostly bearable.

And since the doctor was so interested, I sent him to Blucigs.com so he could take a look around to see what they offer. I cannot wait until mine comes! If he thought what we had was cool, wait til he sees Blu!

Been doing my research and ....

I found possibly the coolest electronic cigarette. It's called Blu. They are basically the same thing as the one I'm smoking, but the tip glows blue when you take a puff. That's not the only thing I think is cool, the cartridges come in several flavors, not just regular and menthol. Blu also offers nicotine cartridges in various strengths down to zero. The flavors are great for when you've kicked the nicotine habit, but want to keep vaping. You can choose from vanilla, coffee, and cherry in addition to the classic regular and menthol flavors.

But even that's not all! Probably the coolest, by far, is the pack the e-cig is stored in. It's also a charger and the starter kit comes with 2 batteries. Unlike the one I currently have that only came with one, before I kicked analogs, if my e-cig battery died I would probably end up smoking an analog until it was done charging. With Blu, you'd always have an e-cig available when you wanted one. The pack can charge a battery up to six times before it needs charging itself. You can also choose if you want a black or white starter kit.

And speaking of the starter kit!

It comes with the pack as I described and a variety carton of cartridges that had all the flavors Blu offers. From everything I've read in forums and different columns, Blu is the most popular electronic cigarette on the market. It was even put in the swag bags given out at the grammy's this year.

I'm ordering my starter kit ASAP. I'll be sure and post what I think about it when it comes. In the meantime, if you want to check it out yourself, here's the link:  What is blu?

Happy Vaping!!

36 hours & counting!

Well, it's been at least 36 hours since I had my last analog and the difference in me is noticeable. When I woke up this morning I all but flew outta bed. I was so rested and full of energy it was almost scary! So with all this energy, I had a little fun, then I started laundry while Michael made breakfast. Since he'd given up the real thing a week ago, he'd been telling me how much better he's been sleeping at night and it's made such a difference for him. Last night, I was actually sleepy at a normal hour, not like 2am and I'm finally going to bed. It was 11p and I was beat! I'm almost anxious to see what time I'll be sleepy tonight.

Right now I find myself coughing a lot for two reasons: 1) I'm getting over a cold and, 2) I've given up the tobacco cigarettes. I wonder what I'm gonna feel like tomorrow……

My sense of smell is already improved. My taste buds are starting to wake up again (uh-oh) and Michael can cook really well. I hope I don't get fat again! But as soon as Michael got home yesterday with my pack of menthol cartridges, I put one on my e-cig and puffed away. I was in menthol heaven and then I made the declaration….

"That's it! I'm done with 'em! No more analogs for me!"

Then I threw my last "spares" in the trash. That's about as final as I could get! And I don't feel antsy about it either. When I feel the need to smoke, I grab my e-cig. I always have it with me and when I don't need it, I charge it. Just that simple. It's great and I'm really thankful for Michael's uncle showing his off.

It's all about the benefits baby.....

Howdy!

How's everything today? It's such a pretty day outside. Warm and breezy. It reminds me of my hometown, San Diego, CA. I love that place.

Anyway.......

I'm still on my journey to becoming a non-smoker. This particular trip is being made so much easier with my e-cig. Right now I'm smoking the regular full flavor cartridge because there were no more menthol. That is why I still smoke analogs, but all that is gonna change today. My husband and his uncle went to the same store where we got our starter kits and he's bringing me menthol cartridges.

Yay!

When I start to miss the menthol flavor is when I break out an analog, I almost feel bad when I do because my husband will look at me like "ugh, that stinks" and he's right. It does stink. That's why when I get my menthol cartridges, I'm kissing my analogs goodbye!

Remember me saying that I learn about the benefits everyday? Well I discovered another one. The smoker's cough is starting to ease up. When I put down the analogs completely, my blood pressure will go back to normal, my taste buds will wake up (uh-oh, better watch that!) , and I'll be giving back the years I still from myself, my husband, and our children for cigarettes. I'm taking my life back for me and my family.

I've done some research into these e-cigs that are becoming so popular. I live in a college town so a lot of the college kids know about them. There are so many brands, types, and flavors to choose from I discovered. Some come with full flavor and menthol cartridges only, and some have yummy flavors like strawberry, cherry, vanilla, and grape. Some have a tradition red glowing tip while some others have a different color for the end. I've even seen one where you push a button and the vapor just comes out at you. I don't like those. I like to be able to control my vapor.

I did see one particular brand that's peaked my curiosity. I won't say what it is just yet, but I have the feeling I'll be switching from the e-cig I have now to this brand I'm talking about. There are so many options that come with it, I can almost customize my e-cig and there are a number of flavors to choose from. Not just full flavor and menthol. Once I work my way down to zero nicotine, the yummy flavors will stand out even more.

Oh! My husband's home now! Time for my menthol e-cig!

L8r!

Welcome to my journey.......

My journey to becoming a non-smoker. During my 20 year stink, ahem, stint as a smoker, I've attempted this journey many times. Sometimes I was successful for months. But here I am, grateful to be alive.

I just had a cancer scare.

Thankfully, everything turned out fine......this time. Ya see, breast cancer runs rampant on my mom's side of the family. She and all four of my aunts have had it, as well as my grandmother. Now that I'm 38, my husband and I decided it was time I had my first mammogram done. Good thing I did. They discovered a lump that I had to have biopsied to find out if it was benign or not. Getting the good news I got.....

I'm cancer free!!!!!!!!

I decided to needed to cut out the parts of my life that could lead to cancer. I decided to quit smoking.....

for good.

I tried cold turkey too many times to count. I've never been successful at it. I've heard that the meaning of insanity is do the same thing over and over again and expect a different result each time. Well, I'm not crazy....

most of the time.

I needed a better way. So I started to cut back.

I know, I know. That usually never works either, but this time I had a plan. A pack of cigarettes would typically last me a day and a half. As I got more into my "cut back" I noticed that a pack would last me 3 and 4 days, consistently. I thought I was on to something! I continued cutting back and made it to where a pack would last me an entire week. By the time I got to the last cigarette it was stale.

I smoke menthols.....ewe!

Smoking stale menthols is like eating stale cheetos. Ugh! At that point I thought I was ready to give it up completely. I tried.....I failed.

Damn!

Then my husband's uncle showed him his "electronic cigarette." My husband tried it and said it was just like the real thing, except the "smoke" you drew in and exhaled was really a cool water vapor. He said it felt and tasted like cigarettes, but there was no after smell and there was no smoke at all. The vapor disappeared in seconds he told me. I got really curious and paid a visit to his uncle. He let me try it, he smokes menthol cigarettes too, and I could really taste the menthol. It felt like I took a drag from a regular cigarette, and I looked like smoke I blew out but it was vapor. I took a second hit and blew it out on my hand it the vapor was cool. There was no smell, no ash, no second hand smoke. I'm kind of an odd smoker. I hate the smell of cigarette smoke, but I love to smoke.

My husband's uncle went on to explain that the flavor comes from the cartridge on the end (that looks just a like a filter) and the vapor is generated when you take a drag. There is a small atomizer inside of it that creates the vapor. The atomizer is powered by a lithium-ion battery in the barrel of the cigarette. It's slightly heavier than a real cigarette, but the feel of it and the vapor hit were awesome. I had to have one of my own.

So my husband, his uncle and I jump in the car and my husband and I get our starter kits. We assembled the e-cigs, as I like to call them, and we were vaporizing. It's been about a week since we started and he's given up "analogs" completely. I'm still working on it, but I know I'll be done with them soon. I haven't bought another pack of analogs and I won't either. I've already saved on the price of a pack of smokes. When I add all that up over say, a year, it's a lot o'money I'll save compared to maintaining my e-cig. Come to think about it, since there's no flame either, I won't have to buy lighters or lighter fluid or matches anymore. Smoking is quite the expensive habit! I can't count the number of times I searched high and low for something to light a cigarette with. Or the number of times I nearly burned the tip of my nose trying to light one on the stove. Not only is smoking expensive, it's dangerous on so many levels! Not with my e-cig! I learn about the benefits daily.

A cartridge, so far, lasts me about 5 days and a cartridge equals about 1 to 2 packs. You can even choose the level of nicotine you want. I've started with the high, but I'll work my way down until I eventually get to zero nicotine.  I'll keep up with my e-cigs, even after that point for so many reasons.

1 - I don't stink
2 - I still feel like I'm smoking
3 - There's no second hand smoke
4 - I can smoke an e-cig anywhere, literally. There's no tobacco and no smoke. I don't break       any laws.
5 - They're soooo cool!

Whenever I feel the need for a smoke, I pull out my e-cig and puff away. I charge the battery with the USB charger that came in the kit. When it needs a charge, there is less vapor and the glowing end blinks. Then you simply unscrew the battery from the cartridge, screw it into the USB charger, and plug it into any computer's USB port. Mine takes less than an hour to charge. My husband's takes 2 to 3 hours so charging time varies. So far I'm thoroughly enjoying my e-cig, but I rarely do something of this magnitude without first doing some research, but I tried it so I bought it. Now I'm doing some research and finding out some really interesting facts. I'll share as I find info.

Well it's late now and I'm sleepy. I'll hit my e-cig a few times and call it a night.

Ni-night!
